Monday, July 5th, 2010BRETT KAUFMAN Collage Series
Thursday, June 10th, 2010Over a year in the making, Brett Kaufman has just debuted his latest digital collage piece entitled “Harvey Milk”. It is the 13th collage in a series of historical portraits which have been created over the past decade. This most recent edition was inspired by an original photograph taken by San Francisco photographer Dan Nicoletta who was also featured this month in Eat Pray Fuck. The collage was meticulously constructed using over 600 photographic images taken from candle light vigils. The 2010 commemorative portrait of Harvey Milk is now available in limited edition and can be purchased by contacting him directly through his online portfolio.
“Harvey has made more of an impact on me, than any other historical icon has.
He opened my eyes to being proud of who I am, and who I choose to love”.

HOT SWEDISH Tranny Genius
Sunday, June 6th, 2010Eccentric Geniuses.
Swedish experimental-pop duo, The Knife, have been around for a while but keep a VERY low profile. They avoid the press and publicity in general and rarely do interviews. I stumbled upon them while vacationing in Bangkok and have not seen or heard one peep about them in the U.S.
The Knife is Olof Dreijer and Karin Dreijer Andersson. They are based in Stockholm, Sweden and have made music together since 1999, released on their own label Rabid Records.

Photographer Dan Nicoletta was here in the late 70′s working for Harvey Milk on Castro Street. He was also here during the Punk – New Wave Movement and the AIDs Crisis of the 1980′s. I know because I was also here and I would often see Dan somewhere in the crowd, camera in hand, doing what he was born to do…record, document and archive chapters in history that we never knew were even going to be chapters in history.
The images in his upcoming show “More Glitter—Less Bitter” will highlight significant moments from the past 35 years of Nicoletta’s work, including still photos taken on the set of Gus Van Sant’s Academy Award winning film “MILK,” in which actor Lucas Grabeel portrayed Nicoletta.
Historical side-note: In 1975 Dan was hired by Harvey Milk to work in Milk’s Castro Street camera store. There, at age 19, Nicoletta’s life path as a documentarian for that emerging scene began. Milk was one of the first openly gay elected officials in the world and he became a symbol of courage for the LGBT civil rights movement after he was assassinated in 1978.
