BURNING MAN – 2010
Wednesday, March 31st, 2010FRIENDS WITH YOU – website launch
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010Friends With You will make all your dreams come true!
Okay, consumerism is out..very out, but, if I WAS going to consume I might consider some of the beautifully designed merchandise at Friends With You. Even if it all does end up in landfill at least it will be beautiful landfill.
Probably one of the best designed new websites of 2010.
Tassajara Zen Center
Tuesday, March 30th, 2010The Tassajara Zen Center, approx 4 hours south of San Francisco is one of those amazing spots that I wish I had discovered much earlier in life. I now take an annual pilgrimage to the center where I participate in their Summer Work Practice. I have found that working with the residents and volunteers at the center allows for a much richer experience of the place. ( The rate is $60 per day).
The center is very diverse and Queer friendly, attracts adorable, fun people and is a perfect spot to land when you need to drop out of the modern world for a bit….or for the rest of your life.
I generally join the morning meditation with the monks, do 3.5 hours of work in the kitchen and then head to the hot springs bathhouse overlooking the river is where I would spend the afternoon doing yoga and reading.
Guests are always welcome to join the residents for meditation and chanting every morning and evening. During guest season free instruction is offered.
Two more things. No electricity or cell phones and the food is amazing. Some of the best I’ve ever had.

Monday, March 29th, 2010Pamela Sunday – Ceramacist
Monday, March 29th, 2010Disregard anything that I said last week about relinquishing all attachments to material possessions. The moment that I saw one of Pamela Sunday’s beautiful ceramics at my friend Tom’s house I was struck with desire and envy. Forget the iPad and Android phone, I want a Pamela Sunday original.
Pamela has managed to combine organic bio-minimalism with a modern design aesthetic into the kind of hybrid that I have been waiting for. Pamela lives and works in Brooklyn and is known for her meticulous craftsmanship and for testing the limits of her chosen materials.

Saturday, March 27th, 2010ARE YOU A COLOR QUEEN ???
Friday, March 26th, 2010Like me?
I am a color queen. I think about color all the time…I play with it. I obsess on it and I try to control it. I give a lot of thought to color combinations in particular.
Sometimes, when I’m feeling sad I will go to my new favorite website colorlovers.com and look at fabulous color combinations. Then I feel happy again. Website

SISSYFIT vs. MANQUAKE sat night march 20th
Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010Remember to disco nap
This looks like my kind of Saturday night.
At Sub Mission gallery on Mission Street. The middle room is transformed into a dark & steamy mini-disco-tique, channeling the good times from from our late, lamented club @ the gangway. that’s right, chitlin’s, that’s 2-CLUBS-IN-1, with TWO DANCE FLOORS to suit your many moods. well, two of them, anyway. adding to the merriment: MR. PICKLE SURPRISE + a “birthday installment” by the inimitable PHATIMA! i’m kinda scared!
